The Jonas Software Foundation

With great strength comes great responsibility. Building a great business is about more than the bottom line on a spreadsheet, it’s about how we use our success, expertise and time to make a difference - to people and the planet.

Find out how we provide balance and opportunity

The Jonas Software Foundation is how we give back. We work with charities that align with our employees’ values and priorities, offering apprenticeships that either give people a vital first step or change in their career, engaging with our local community and actively focusing on sustainability within our organisation.

Charities

At the start of each year, our businesses select a charity that is meaningful to them, whether it’s a cause close to an individual, a group of employees, or the sector they serve. Throughout the year, employees take part in a variety of fundraising events, from Ironman challenges and cycling races to bake sales and coffee mornings, all in support of their chosen charities.

In 2024, we supported 11 charities, raising over £30,000 through these efforts. Beyond fundraising, we recognise the power of our reach. With over a million emails sent annually across multiple sectors worldwide, we use our platforms to raise awareness and amplify the efforts of the organisations we support.

We’re also committed to making a direct impact by providing time, resources, and matched contributions to uphold our ‘give back’ promise, ensuring our businesses and employees have the support they need to make a real difference.

Giving people opportunities to grow and develop...

Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships are a big deal for us. Not everyone with natural talent is able to find their way into a promising career in software and its supporting roles, so may miss out in life. At the same time, we know our companies grow and thrive with fresh, diverse talent, ideas and viewpoints.

We provide opportunities for people to get a kick-start and formal training as they begin their careers, return to work or if they have decided to change vocation. Whether in finance, development, testing or other IT related careers - or CMI apprenticeships for Team Leaders and Managers – our apprenticeship programme is managed centrally across multiple brands and provides professional and pastoral care for every new team member.

Our Commitment

Sustainability

At Jonas Europe, we recognise the role we play in building a more sustainable future. We are proud to have achieved carbon neutrality for our 2023 emissions, offsetting our impact through initiatives that restore forests, provide clean drinking water, and reduce carbon emissions.

Sustainability is built on small, meaningful actions. From reducing waste and energy consumption to supporting responsible resource management, we encourage practical steps that make a lasting impact.

In March 2025, a group of our employees swapped their desks for spades and planted 200 trees at Truleigh Farm with Carbon Footprint Ltd. It was a great opportunity to step outside, take action, and contribute directly to reforestation efforts.

We are committed to continuously improving our approach to sustainability, providing our businesses with the support and resources they need to reduce their environmental impact while continuing to grow.

FAQs

What was the carbon footprint of Jonas Europe businesses in 2021, 2022 & 2023?

With the help of Carbon Footprint Ltd, we were able to assess all the businesses Jonas Europe owned in 2021, 2022 & 2023 by types of travel and office utilities. We made an impact of 658 tonnes, 1,100 tonnes & 1,559 tonnes.

Why is the carbon footprint of Jonas Europe higher increasing – shouldn’t it be going down not up?

Yes, you would expect this to go down year on year. However, as an acquisitive organisation the overall total has increased as we acquire more businesses

What is Jonas Europe doing to mitigate the Carbon impacts made?

With the help and advice of Carbon Footprint Ltd, we have chosen to invest in a number of Carbon schemes to 100% offset our impact, which allows us to promote ourselves as a Carbon Neutral organisation. These were an afforestation scheme in Ghana, a clean drinking water project in Eritrea and funding of cookstoves in Rwanda.

Can I join or support the Jonas Software Foundation?

Unfortunately not. It is an internal initiative setup to support the Jonas Europe businesses and employees. However, if you feel we’re doing great things, then why don’t you join us?

What else does the Jonas Software Foundation do to help the environment?

Whilst we have invested in a number of global carbon offset schemes each year, we are also making investments into future offsetting. It takes at least 5 years before a sapling becomes a tree that can start removing carbon from the atmosphere.
In 2023 we purchased 200 trees for our employees to plant at an event held in Oxfordshire in October 2023.
In 2025 we again purchase 200 trees and in March 2025 a group of employees planted these on the South Downs, just north of Worthing.

I’m thinking of doing an apprenticeship – how can you help me?
